Over the weekend, Alta Devices was presented with an award by the Sunnyvale Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce for Outstanding Innovation in Solar Cell Technology. This year is the 53rd year of the annual Chamber of Commerce Murphy Awards. The awards recognize business and community accomplishments in technology, innovation and community spirit.
The award presentation was made at a gala event attended by the State Senator (Jerry Hill), City Mayor (Glenn Hendricks) and representatives from many local technology companies including the premier event sponsor Google. Ben Lenail, Director of Business Development at Alta Devices accepted the award on behalf of the company.
Ben was warmly introduced by Sunnyvale’s economic development manager, Connie Verceles.
During Ben’s speech he paid tribute to three key areas that have led to our growth and success at Alta Devices; the team, the technology and our customers. ’Our smart and driven team of over 200 employees have helped us to bring our unique solar technology to market,’ he stated. He outlined how we’re continuously improving our record breaking technology and have broken the solar efficiency world record multiple times. He closed with ‘Our customers are partnering with us on some of the most exciting and ‘frontier’ projects in high altitude aerospace and unmanned flight. In the future we will be announcing more details about our partnerships in automotive and internet of things.’
Congratulations to the other award recipients this year. They honorees were Blue River Technology (agricultural robotics); 6d bytes (culinary robotics); Quanergy Systems (LIDAR); and Koniku (neurocomputation). A lifetime award was given to Dianne and Regis McKenna.
We would like to thank the Chamber of Commerce, event sponsors and the city of Sunnyvale for a great event.
