Xponential 2018 Alta Devices Booth
Alta Devices was in Denver for Xponential, the UAV/Drone industry’s largest show earlier this month on May 1-3. It was a great opportunity to learn about cutting-edge innovation, share perspectives on industry developments, and connect with some old friends.
We wanted to share our top insights and general highlights from the show with you here:
Our Top 5
1. Fixed Wing
There was a noticeable increase in fixed-wing attendees at this year’s show. Possibly a sign of the industry maturing.
2. Autonomy and BVLOS Panel Discussion
It was standing-room only as Rich Kapusta, Alta Devices’ CMO moderated a panel of industry leaders including NASA, AirXOS, MicroPilot, Hogan Lovells and SkyLogic Research. The exciting discussion centered around the many implications of BVLOS and how this is an inflection point for the UAS industry.
3. BVLOS
A massive change for the industry and almost everyone was talking about it at this year’s show! Beyond Visual Line of Sight will happen soon. True autonomy will be a key requirement. These aircraft will need to autonomously fly, navigate and charge.
4. Attendance
Unquestionably this is the most important UAV show of the year. From our daily walk-around and the number of visitors to the expanded Alta Devices booth, attendance seemed up from 2017 which had over 7000 attendees.
5. Aw HALE Yeah! Caps
We gave out over 400 bright orange caps with the Alta Devices logo on the front and ‘Aw HALE Yeah’ on the back. Post pics wearing your cap to social media and tag us @Alta_Devices!
